Newell was requested to assist Charlotte Fire with a
large brush and woods fire. Companies were responding to
several smaller fires on I-85. Engine 15 arrived to find
a large fire moving rapidly up an embankment and into
the woods. The second alarm was transmitted just prior
to a request for tankers form Mecklenburg and Cabarrus
Counties. CFD companies responded from as far away as
downtown due to another multiple alarm fire in Battalion
2. Newell Engine 3 responded and supplied water to
Engine 22.
