Dry Weather Brings Brush Fires

February 12, 2007
A Northbound train sparked several brush fires in the woods and grass between Charlotte and Harrisburg. CFD Engine 35 responded to the first of several fires between University City Boulevard and the tracks. Newell assisted with 2 engines and manpower on 3 other fires in the same area. Shortly after clearing the first set of fires, Newell Engine 2 requested assistance for heavy smoke in the area of the Mecklenburg-Cabarrus County Line. Harrisburg was on scene with a fire on the tracks behind Galvan Industries. Newell assisted with that fire as well.
