Newell and Robinson were alerted for a structure
fire during a severe thunderstorm on Frank Grier Road.
Newell 10 reported heavy fire prior to arrival. Newell
Engine 1 and Heavy Rescue 1 arrived to find a barn fully
involved. A defensive attack was started with two 2-1/2"
lines. Robinson Engine 1 supplied water while Newell
Engines 2 and 3, Robinson Engine 4 and Mint Hill Tanker
4 shuttled water from the nearest hydrant. personnel
were on scene for several hours for overhaul. The fire
was caused by a direct lightning strike to the
structure.
